Vietnam verifies detention of citizens in Pakistan
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is verifying reports regarding the detention of Vietnamese citizens in Pakistan. According to spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency of Pakistan have detained several Vietnamese nationals suspected of violating residency and labor regulations.
Local authorities in Pakistan allege that these foreign nationals entered the country on tourist visas but were working illegally at a suspected phone scam center in Islamabad. The crackdown follows an operation targeting transnational criminal activities. Most of the detainees are reportedly from Asian countries and are currently being held in Rawalpindi for investigation.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan is working with local authorities to verify the identities of those detained and to implement necessary citizen protection measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the embassy to coordinate closely with Pakistani officials to ensure the security and safety of the citizens involved.
