Vietnam vocational schools partner with firms for EV training

Vocational schools in Vietnam are increasingly partnering with enterprises to address the growing demand for skilled technicians in the electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid sectors. At Dong An High-Tech College in Ho Chi Minh City, a collaborative training program with OTTO Tien Thanh provides students with hands-on experience using new EV models, focusing on diagnostics and error handling.

This shift in training reflects the rapid evolution of automotive technology, where traditional mechanical skills must now be integrated with expertise in electronics, software, and diagnostic technology. Experts note a significant gap between theoretical classroom knowledge and the practical requirements of modern automotive manufacturing and service.

To bridge this gap, institutions like the Hanoi College of Electromechanics are implementing models where students spend several months working directly within companies such as VinFast, Denso Vietnam, and THACO. This approach allows students to engage with real-world production processes and advanced technologies, ensuring they are prepared for the specific needs of the industry.
