Vietnam volleyball star Thanh Thuy highlighted ahead of Asian Championship

The 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship is set to take place in Tianjin, China, from August 21 to August 30. The tournament carries significant stakes, as the champion will qualify for the 2028 Olympics, and the top three finishers will earn spots in the 2027 World Championship.

Volleyball World Asia, an outlet of the FIVB, has highlighted Vietnamese star Trần Thị Thanh Thúy as one of the most anticipated players of the tournament, alongside Japan's Yoshino Sato and Thailand's Sasipaporn Janthawisut. The publication noted Thúy's experience and her ability to bring flexibility and scoring power to her teams.

The Vietnamese national team, coached by Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt, has set a goal to reach the quarterfinals. Competing in Group C, Vietnam faces Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong. To advance, the team must secure a victory against Hong Kong and aim for a strong result against South Korea, a critical match scheduled for August 22.
