Vietnam: War hero’s identity confirmed after 56 years and volunteers deliver aid in Vinh Long

After more than half a century, a small aluminum tag bearing the name "Đinh Xuân Tình" was uncovered in an unidentified soldier’s grave at the Đô Lương war cemetery in Nghệ An. DNA testing confirmed the tag matched the family of Đinh Văn Lượng, a 58‑year‑old resident of Võ Miếu, Phú Thọ, who has been searching for his father’s remains since the 1960s. The discovery allowed officials to identify the fallen soldier, who died on 6 February 1970 in Laos, and to inform his family, bringing long‑awaited closure.

In a separate humanitarian effort, a volunteer group traveled to Vĩnh Long in the Mekong Delta, distributing food and essential supplies to families in need. Participants reported that the direct hand‑over of aid and the gratitude of recipients highlighted the importance of community solidarity and compassion.
