Vietnam weather: Heatwaves in the north and landslides in central regions

Vietnam is experiencing diverse and severe weather patterns across various regions. Northern Vietnam is facing a prolonged heatwave, with temperatures expected to exceed 37 degrees Celsius in many areas, including parts of Lai Chau, Son La, and Hanoi. This intense heat is forecasted to persist for several days.

In contrast, other regions are dealing with the consequences of heavy rainfall and landslides. In Nghe An province, large boulders rolled down a mountain, blocking a vital road in Muong Tip commune, though authorities have since cleared the path. In Lam Dong province, a 20-meter high slope collapsed due to continuous rain, damaging a production workshop and cold storage facilities in Bao Loc.

In Dong Nai, authorities are preparing for potential flooding and landslides as river levels on the Dong Nai and La Nga rivers rise. Local officials are monitoring risks of tropical depressions and implementing evacuation plans for high-risk areas to mitigate damage from heavy rain and potential storms.
