Vietnam welcomes US assessment of anti-trafficking efforts

Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the United States' objective assessment regarding Vietnam's positive results in combating human trafficking. During a press conference on October 15, 2026, spokesperson Pham Thu Hang noted that Vietnam is actively strengthening its anti-trafficking efforts through the implementation of the 2026–2030 anti-trafficking program, with a long-term vision toward 2035.

Key domestic measures include the effective enforcement of the 2024 Law on Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking, increased investigations, prosecutions, and victim support. Vietnam is also addressing the complex rise of human trafficking linked to online fraud centers. Additionally, the government has launched a plan to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration for the 2026–2035 period to mitigate risks in international migration.

Vietnam expressed its readiness to continue close cooperation and dialogue with partners, including the United States, to further evaluate its achievements in alignment with their comprehensive strategic partnership.
