Vietnam women's football team begins ASIAD 2026 preparations

The Vietnam women's national football team has officially convened in Hanoi to begin preparations for the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD). Under the leadership of new head coach Hoàng Văn Phúc, the squad includes 29 players, with a significant emphasis on integrating younger talent.

Notably, the team will compete without veteran striker Huỳnh Như, who is approaching 35 years of age. Coach Phúc has prioritized a “young blood” approach, calling up several players from the U-20 squad, including goalkeeper Lê Thị Thu, midfielder Ngân Thị Thanh Hiếu, and forward Lưu Hoàng Vân. Other key players include forward Ngọc Minh Chuyên and veteran striker Phạm Hải Yến.

Following domestic training focused on physical conditioning and tactical development, the team is scheduled to undergo training abroad before competing in the tournament in Japan. Vietnam has been placed in Group A alongside Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Thailand.
