Japan prepares for ASIAD 2026 as Vietnam women's football team arrives

The Vietnam women's national football team has arrived in Japan to compete in the ASIAD 2026 tournament. Following a training period in Suzhou, China, the squad landed at Nagoya Airport on September 11. Led by coach Hoang Van Phuc, the team is stationed at the Kakegawa Grand Hotel in Shizuoka Prefecture.

Vietnam is placed in Group A and is scheduled to face Chinese Taipei on September 14, followed by host nation Japan on September 17, and Thailand on September 21. The team's recent preparations included friendly matches in Hanoi and China, notably a 1-0 victory against Jiangsu Women's Club and a 0-3 loss to the China women's national team.

In preparation for the upcoming games, Japanese authorities are deploying approximately 10,000 police officers to ensure security for the ASIAD 2026 Aichi-Nagoya opening ceremony and the duration of the event. This security operation includes 3,100 special task force members and the use of artificial intelligence to monitor potential threats on social media. New regulations will also establish drone no-fly zones around the opening ceremony venues and imperial residences.
