Vietnam Writers' Association Chairman Nguyên Quang Thiêu Dismissed
On 30 July, the Central Control Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) voted to remove Nguyên Quang Thiêu, the chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association, from all Party positions. The decision was taken at the CPV's 10th session in Hanoi, chaired by Politburo member Trân Sy Thanh. The commission said Nguyên Quang Thiêu had seriously breached Party regulations and state law, citing ideological and moral decline, failure to enforce anti‑corruption and anti‑waste rules, and actions that harmed the Party’s prestige. It also criticised the Association’s publishing house and the provincial Party committee in Bac Ninh for neglecting oversight responsibilities, recommending further disciplinary measures.
