Vietnam Writers' Association dismisses Chairman Nguyễn Quang Thiều

The Executive Board of the Vietnam Writers' Association has voted to dismiss poet Nguyễn Quang Thiều from his position as Chairman for the X term (2020-2025).

This decision follows a July 30, 2026, ruling by the Central Inspection Commission, which stripped Nguyễn Quang Thiều of all Party positions. The Commission cited limitations and a lack of responsibility in the leadership and supervision of the Association's Party Committee, leading to violations within the organization and its managing agency.

Writer Nguyễn Bình Phương, currently Vice Chairman, has been assigned to temporarily manage the Association's operations until a new Chairman is appointed. This interim arrangement will remain in place as the Association prepares for its next representative congress, expected in late September 2026.
