Vietnam Youth Union Holds 13th National Congress in Hanoi
The 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union took place on 24‑25 June 2026 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. The opening session was attended by 788 delegates representing more than 5.1 million union members and nearly 22 million Vietnamese youths. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam delivered a keynote address urging young people to adopt a new spirit of responsibility, accelerate learning, innovate and contribute to national development.
The Congress adopted the action slogan “Bản lĩnh tự cường - Tiên phong sáng tạo - Khát vọng cống hiến - Làm chủ tương lai,” and elected a new Central Committee of 119 members. Bùi Quang Huy was re‑elected as First Secretary of the Youth Union. Delegates discussed priorities such as digital transformation, science and technology, entrepreneurship, volunteerism and strengthening ideological education.
To facilitate the event, Hanoi authorities temporarily restricted heavy and passenger vehicles on major routes for two days. The Congress is seen as a key political gathering shaping the role of Vietnam’s youth in the country’s next development phase.
