Vietnam Youth Union Holds 13th National Congress, Sets New Goals for Young Generation

On 25 June 2024, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm addressed the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi. He praised the Union’s role as the Party’s trusted reserve force and highlighted achievements over the past 95 years, while calling for deeper engagement with youth across all sectors, especially workers, freelancers and digital platforms.

The Congress outlined a five‑year plan for 2026‑2031, aiming to build a new generation of revolutionary‑idealed, patriotic, digitally skilled young people. Targets include supporting 12.892 trillion VND in loans for youth entrepreneurship, backing 9,029 startup projects, providing career counselling to over 11.9 million youths and assisting nearly 3.3 million disadvantaged children. The Union plans to expand digital education, volunteer initiatives and innovation programmes, while acknowledging gaps in reaching non‑traditional youth groups and improving the quality of its cadres.

The event underscores the Party’s emphasis on youth as a driving force for national development and signals continued investment in education, technology and social support for Vietnam’s younger population.
