Vietnamese AI models and language graduates grapple with AI shift
Vietnam is developing its own artificial‑intelligence models that are tuned to the Vietnamese language, data sets, cultural context and industry needs. These locally built models aim to help banks, insurers, telecoms, retail, logistics, education and healthcare firms create chatbots, contract‑summaries and internal knowledge tools that understand domestic terminology and procedures. At the same time, they raise concerns about data security, model bias and the need for rigorous governance.
Recent graduates in language majors are feeling pressure as AI tools increasingly handle translation, transcription and even basic teaching tasks. One graduate asked, “If AI can fully replace language‑related jobs, what will I do?” and noted the difficulty of competing with AI‑driven vocabulary and grammar resources. Experts argue that AI cannot replicate human emotional nuance, cultural insight or classroom inspiration, and stress the importance of adapting skills to complement, rather than compete with, the technology.
