Vietnamese authorities prosecute forgery and illegal mining cases

Authorities in Vietnam have launched criminal investigations into two separate illegal activities in Phu Tho and An Giang provinces.

In Phu Tho, police have arrested Nguyen Van Tuan for the use of forged documents. Tuan allegedly commissioned fake driver's licenses to upgrade his own credentials and used them to secure passenger transport contracts. Investigations revealed he also produced 11 types of forged documents, including health certificates and vocational certificates, for others, earning approximately 43.3 million VND in illicit profits.

In An Giang, police have prosecuted Nguyen Van Tinh for illegal mineral exploitation. Tinh was identified as the mastermind behind an operation using excavators to remove clay from a canal bed to sell for construction materials. Despite previous administrative penalties for similar conduct, Tinh continued the unauthorized mining activities. Authorities have seized equipment and materials to support the ongoing investigation.
