Sun Yupeng arrested for trademark infringement of Hang Du Muc brand

Ho Chi Minh City Police have arrested and detained Sun Yupeng (also known as Ton Bang), a Chinese national and the ex-husband of popular TikToker Hang Du Muc, for infringing on industrial property rights.

Investigators found that the “Hang Du Muc” trademark is legally registered to Nguyen Cong Hao, director of Hang Du Muc Co., Ltd., who authorized his daughter, Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc), to use it for her TikTok business. Following his divorce from Hang, Sun Yupeng established Dich Duong Company to independently sell red dates using the same trademark without authorization.

A search of Dich Duong Company’s warehouse in Tan Son Ward uncovered approximately 28,794 kg of Chinese-origin red dates branded as “Hang Du Muc.” The seized goods, valued at roughly 1.5 billion VND (approximately $60,000 USD), lacked proper invoices or documentation to prove their legal origin. The case is being processed under Article 226 of the Penal Code.
