Vietnamese bookstores crowded with shoppers ahead of new school year
Bookstores in major Vietnamese cities, including Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, experienced heavy crowds of parents and students shopping for school supplies ahead of the new academic year.
In Ho Chi Minh City, locations such as the Fahasa bookstore saw high demand for textbooks, notebooks, backpacks, and other essential items. The surge in weekend shoppers led to crowded parking areas and long queues at checkout counters. Some parents reported difficulties finding specific textbooks for certain grade levels.
Similarly, in Hanoi, bookstores like Tiền Phong on Tay Son Street and locations on Xa Dan Street saw significant increases in foot traffic. While retailers reported stable pricing and sufficient stock of various supplies, customers noted the need to purchase both essential classroom materials and supplementary reference books to support student learning.
