Vietnamese clubs prepare for Shopee Cup 2026-2027 opening matches

The 2026-2027 Shopee Cup, organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), is set to begin with group stage matches featuring Vietnamese representatives Công An TP. HCM and Công An Hà Nội. Both clubs will face away challenges in their opening fixtures.

On October 7, Công An TP. HCM will travel to Thailand to face Ratchaburi. Despite Ratchaburi's strong roster featuring several Thai national team players and international talent, Công An TP. HCM enters the match with confidence following recent training sessions in Thailand.

On October 8, Công An Hà Nội will face Lion City Sailors in Singapore. This match marks the opening of Group B, which also includes teams such as Johor Darul Ta’zim, Port, and Persib Bandung.

The tournament format has expanded this season from 12 to 14 teams, divided into two groups of seven. The top four teams from each group will advance directly to the quarter-finals.
