Vietnamese community in Macau celebrates National Day

The Vietnamese community in Macau held a ceremony to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day on September 2. The event was attended by approximately 300 delegates, including local government representatives, social organizations, members of the Association of Vietnamese in Hong Kong, and Vietnamese citizens living, studying, or working in Macau.

Le Duc Hanh, the Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau, delivered a speech reflecting on the historical significance of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence in 1945. She highlighted Vietnam's economic progress, noting that in 2025, the economy was projected to grow by over 8% with a GDP of approximately $514 billion, with growth trends expected to continue into the first half of 2026.

The Consul General emphasized that the Vietnamese government views overseas citizens as a strategic resource and a vital bridge to the world. She praised the Macau-based community for its solidarity and contributions to both Vietnam and the local economy, specifically noting the cohesion between intellectuals, students, and laborers.
