Vietnamese couple Nguyen Thi Mai Anh and Le Van Dong charged with large-scale bribery and drug offenses

Hanoi police investigation concluded that Nguyen Thi Mai Anh (born 1979, Hà Tĩnh) and her husband Le Van Dong (born 1978) engaged in extensive bribery to manipulate personnel planning at the Central Institute of Forensic Medicine (Psychiatric) and the Northern Mountain Psychiatric Center. Mai Anh allegedly paid more than 1.3 billion VND in cash and travel benefits to institute staff, secured a private air‑conditioned room, placed relatives in staff positions, and brokered over 3.85 billion VND for others to obtain favorable psychiatric assessments, profiting over 3.1 billion VND.

Le Van Dong was charged with illegal storage and use of multiple controlled substances—including methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and cannabis—and for organizing a drug‑use party on 7 June 2025 at Sam Son beach (Thanh Hóa). He also allegedly evaded supervision while posing as a psychiatric patient. Both face prosecution on multiple counts, with prior criminal records noted.
