Vietnamese-German University and DB partner to develop railway workforce
The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with DB Engineering & Consulting and the DB Rail Academy, part of Deutsche Bahn, to enhance railway expertise and technology transfer in Vietnam.
Signed at the InnoTrans 2026 exhibition in Berlin, the agreement aims to address Vietnam’s projected need for approximately 70,000 qualified personnel for high-speed and urban rail development by 2035. A key outcome of this partnership is the establishment of the Vietnamese-German Rail Institute.
The Institute will focus on four strategic pillars: degree programs (Bachelor and Master), management and leadership training including international certifications for metro and rail management, technical workforce and instructor training, and research through a dedicated railway innovation center. VGU will manage infrastructure and quality control, while DB Rail Academy provides international expertise, simulation systems, and academic support.
