Vietnamese language contest held in Higashi Osaka to promote cultural preservation

The final round of the “Toi yeu tieng nuoc toi” (I Love My Mother Tongue) Vietnamese language contest was held on August 23 in Higashi Osaka, Japan. The event was organized to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day.

Twelve finalists competed by integrating the Vietnamese language with expressive arts, showcasing proficiency through various creative formats. The contest aims to encourage the Vietnamese diaspora in Japan, particularly the younger generation raised in a Japanese-speaking environment, to maintain their native language and connect with their history, culture, and traditions.

Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka, Nguyen Truong Son, attended the event, noting the importance of creating environments where the language can be practiced. Organizers emphasized that preserving the language requires cooperation between representative agencies, associations, schools, and families to ensure linguistic continuity across generations.
