Vietnamese low‑cost carriers add new aircraft to fleets

Da Nang airport welcomed two Vietjet Thailand aircraft on 17 July: a newly delivered Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration HS‑VZD) and an Airbus A321‑211 painted pink with a large “WOW” logo (registration HS‑VKL). Both planes are operated under the Vietjet Thailand brand, distinct from Vietnam’s Vietjet, and the Boeing marks the carrier’s first MAX model, while the pink‑liveried A321‑211 carries paint from the former Icelandic WOW air.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways introduced an Airbus A321neo (VN‑A927) to its fleet in July 2026 after the aircraft had previously served Qatar Airways and IndiGo. The plane features new CFMI LEAP engines and joins a growing fleet that is also preparing to receive its first wide‑body Airbus A330 later in the year. These developments reflect ongoing fleet expansion by Vietnam’s low‑cost carriers.
