Vietnamese mixed‑heritage footballers Lê Giang Patrik and Zan Nguyễn gain fan buzz

Goalkeeper Lê Giang Patrik, born in 1992 to a Vietnamese–Slovak family and standing 1.88 m tall, returned to Vietnam in 2023, gained Vietnamese citizenship in early 2026 and was promptly called up by coach Kim Sang Sik to the national team for the ASEAN Cup 2026, playing in friendlies against Myanmar and Timor Leste.

Defender Zan Nguyễn, born in 2006 to a Vietnamese father and American mother, is 1.93 m tall and plays for a Ho Chi Minh City club. He is completing Vietnamese‑citizenship paperwork and also seeks a national‑team call‑up. Both players have attracted widespread online attention for their mixed Western heritage, athletic physiques and rising profiles in Vietnamese football.
