Vietnamese music trends see multilingual covers and choral reinterpretations

The Vietnamese music scene is experiencing diverse forms of creative renewal. Following the conclusion of the program Tinh Ha “Say Hi”, its songs continue to gain popularity through multilingual covers. Tracks such as “MRT”, “SECRET”, and “LAVIEM” have been reimagined in Cantonese, English, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Korean, expanding the program's reach beyond the local community.

In a different approach to musical innovation, the Saigon Choir recently held the “Tiếng Việt” choral music night at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. Rather than using electronic remixes, the program utilized a cappella choral arrangements to reinterpret over 20 traditional and contemporary works, including pieces inspired by Kinh, Cham, and E De cultures. Music director Huỳnh Quang Thái noted that the project aimed to preserve the essence of original melodies while exploring new harmonic structures.

Additionally, singer Orange has released a new collaboration titled “Người Xấu” alongside 52Hz and VSTRA. Produced by WOKEUP, the track utilizes an R&B and electronic soundscape to explore themes of emotional vulnerability and overcoming prejudice in romantic relationships.
