Vietnamese para-athletes receive specialized sports nutrition training
Vietnamese para-athletes have participated in a specialized sports nutrition training program titled “Sports Nutrition in Training, Competition, and Recovery.” The initiative is a collaboration between VPC and Herbalife Vietnam, featuring training from Dr. Vipada Sae-Lao, a nutrition expert for Herbalife in the Asia-Pacific region.
The program aims to equip athletes, coaches, and sports medical staff with advanced knowledge to prepare for international competitions. A central focus of the training is the necessity of personalized nutrition for para-athletes, as their physiological characteristics, energy expenditure, and movement mechanisms differ from able-bodied athletes.
Key training components include calculating precise nutrient needs based on individual physical traits and specific sports, implementing strategic carbohydrate, protein, and electrolyte intake before, during, and after activity, and utilizing antioxidant-rich diets to support bone and muscle health and accelerate recovery.
