Vietnamese police dismantle high-tech illegal gambling and streaming ring

Police in Quang Tri province, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, have dismantled an organized online gambling ring operating under the names "Lương Sơn TV" and "OK9." The ring was led by an individual known by the alias "FDR OBANK."

Investigators have arrested and charged 16 suspects with organizing and participating in online gambling. The group utilized a high-tech criminal model, employing specialized equipment to intercept legal OTT or satellite signals of copyrighted sporting events. They then broadcast these matches for free on various "Lương Sơn TV" websites to attract viewers.

During these unauthorized broadcasts, commentators and customer service staff would direct viewers to register accounts and deposit money into the OK9 gambling platform via social media links and pinned website URLs. Authorities noted this method combines copyright infringement with online gambling, posing significant risks to cybersecurity and the legal rights of official broadcasters.
