Vietnam advances digital payment and regional development initiatives

Vietnam is transitioning from 'Vietnam Card Day' to 'Vietnam Digital Payment Day 2026' under the theme 'Digital Touch - Green Living'. Organized by Tien Phong Newspaper and NAPAS under the direction of the State Bank of Vietnam, the event highlights the shift toward digital ecosystems including QR codes, Tap to Pay, and biometric authentication, particularly among the youth.

In regional development, Lao Cai province is drafting resolutions to attract high-quality human resources, offering incentives between 60 million and 1.5 billion VND per person. Meanwhile, public investment disbursement in Vietnam reached 62.9% of the target as of September 30, 2026, with a focus on major transport and energy projects.

Regulatory actions are also underway in various provinces. In Nghe An, nine sand mining sites and terminals have been ordered to suspend operations due to inadequate surveillance systems, specifically lacking sufficient cameras and standardized weighing stations. In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities have identified 122 flood-prone points to manage urban water issues. Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh Highway project is facing pressure to accelerate construction to meet year-end deadlines.
