Vietnamese schools announce record admission scores for 2026‑27

The Department of Education and Training in Huế city released official cutoff marks for admission to public high schools for the 2026‑27 school year on 14 June. More than 18,000 candidates applied, about 5,000 more than the previous year, and many schools reported higher thresholds. The specialist school Quan Hoc – Huế led with the highest marks, reaching 37.6 points for English, followed by IT (36.95), French (36.48) and other subjects. Several specialty classes saw notable increases, such as IT rising from 30.8 to 36.95 points.

In Hanoi, Cau Giây lower secondary school announced a cutoff of 23.75 points for admission to grade 6 for 2026‑27, 1.5 points lower than the previous year. Over 5,500 candidates competed for 440 seats, giving a selection ratio of roughly 1 in 12.5. The school also applied priority points for minorities, war‑veteran children and other eligible groups, reflecting intense competition at the middle‑school level.
