Vietnamese securities firms see CEO pay surge and market cap shifts
Financial reports for the first half of 2026 reveal significant shifts in the Vietnamese securities sector, characterized by high executive compensation and volatile market capitalizations.
At Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC), CEO Trinh Hoai Giang received 4.8 billion VND in salary and remuneration for the first six months, averaging approximately 800 million VND per month. Other board members at HSC also received substantial payments, including Chairman Johan Nyvene.
In terms of market capitalization, the top 10 securities companies have seen major reshuffling over the past year. While SSI previously dominated the rankings, new market entrants such as Techcom Securities (TCX), VPBank Securities (VPX), and VPS Securities (VCK) have altered the hierarchy. TCX entered the market with a capitalization of 113,139 billion VND, surpassing SSI.
Despite the VN-Index increasing by 9% over the year, the market capitalization of many leading securities firms has declined. Saigon - Hanoi Securities (SHS) experienced a significant drop, falling from 6th to 11th place with a 44.4% decrease in capitalization. HSC saw a 12.9% increase in capitalization but dropped from 5th to 7th place.
