Vietnamese store fined for selling counterfeit Nike and Adidas shoes

A shoe store in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province, has been fined approximately 50 million VND (over US$1,900) after being caught selling counterfeit Nike and Adidas products. The enforcement action follows a complaint from a customer, L. T. T., who purchased two pairs of shoes for 1.3 million VND to send as a gift to her boyfriend in Russia.

Upon arrival in Russia, a specialist examined the footwear and confirmed they were counterfeit rather than genuine brand products. When the customer attempted to seek a refund, the store, identified as Sport Market, refused to assist, citing her lack of an invoice.

Following an inspection by the Khanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade and the provincial market surveillance team, authorities confirmed the business was trading in goods that infringed upon protected Nike and Adidas trademarks. In addition to the administrative fine, the store has been ordered to destroy 180 pairs of infringing inventory.
