Vietnamese universities prioritize green technology transfer

Vietnamese universities are increasingly prioritizing the transfer and commercialization of research to drive green technology and sustainable development. Rather than focusing solely on scientific publications, institutions are adopting a model that connects research, intellectual property, and technology refinement directly to industrial application.

Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City has established a strategic direction for 2026-2030 to transition from a project-based model to a value chain of products and social impact. The university is focusing on strategic technologies in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. Similarly, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has reported significant growth in intellectual property filings and scientific publications.

To bridge the gap between research and reality, Vietnam National University, Hanoi is hosting initiatives like the R&D to Startup 2026 competition. This program connects researchers and students with businesses and investors to refine both products and business models, specifically targeting technologies that improve resource efficiency and reduce waste.
