Vietnamese vocational students compete at WorldSkills in Shanghai

Vietnamese vocational students participated in the 48th WorldSkills competition held in Shanghai, China. Among the competitors was Dang Van Vi, an ethnic Dao student from Lao Cai Vocational College, who represented his institution in the electrical installation category after a rigorous multi-stage selection process.

To Xuan Giao, Vice President of the Vietnam Vocational Education Association, noted that the skills and precision of Vietnamese contestants are approaching international standards, comparable to their performance at the 2019 competition in Russia. Some participants achieved scores near the 700-point threshold required for an Excellence Skill Medal.

Despite these achievements, challenges remain, including psychological pressure, language barriers, and physical requirements. Experts highlighted a significant gap in training infrastructure, noting a need for updated technologies such as VR, 3D, Digital Twin, and specialized centers for automation, electric vehicles, and AI to better align with global industrial trends.
