Vietnamese woman repatriated after 15 years in China
Hau Thi Mo, a Vietnamese woman, has returned to her home province of Tuyen Quang after 15 years of living in China. In 2011, at the age of 17, Mo illegally exited Vietnam to work in China. Due to a lack of legal documentation and protection, she faced significant hardships during her time abroad.
On August 6, 2026, Chinese authorities detected her and repatriated her to Vietnam through the Noi Bai International Airport border gate. Upon her arrival, Mo lacked the financial resources to complete administrative procedures or purchase transportation to return to her family.
Officers from the Noi Bai International Airport Border Gate Police recorded the administrative violation regarding her previous illegal exit. However, after learning of her financial situation, the officers voluntarily donated their own money and arranged a taxi to ensure she could travel safely back to her hometown.
