Vietnamese Workers Honored for Rescue Efforts After Japan’s Kumamoto Earthquake

A magnitude earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan on 29 July 2026. Five Vietnamese workers who were in the area helped rescue victims and were praised by Japanese media for their heroic actions. The Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka confirmed that no Vietnamese citizens were injured and that the diplomatic mission was providing assistance to its nationals.

Vietnamese media also highlighted the incident, noting the positive perception of Vietnam’s labour force in Japan and the broader appreciation of Vietnamese contributions abroad.
