Vietnam's 50 Testing Facilities Approved for Durian Export to China

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that 50 Vietnamese laboratories and packaging sites have been approved by the General Administration of Customs (GACC) of China to test cadmium and illegal gold‑oil residues in durian and longan destined for the Chinese market. The facilities are spread across 13 provinces, with Ho Chi Minh City hosting the largest number (19), followed by Cần Thơ (9) and Hanoi (8).

Deputy Minister Nguyễn Hoàng Hiệp said the approvals, which include 36 sites able to test both contaminants, 11 for cadmium only and 3 for gold‑oil only, ensure that Vietnam can meet Chinese safety standards and avoid export bottlenecks as the Central Highlands enter the main durian harvest season. The government also expects the expanded testing network to shorten inspection times, reduce compliance costs and support the growing export volume of durian and longan to China.
