Vietnam's 7‑seat SUV market surges as Ford Everest tops sales
The Vietnamese market for seven‑seat, high‑ground‑clearance SUVs is expanding rapidly. In the first half of 2026, total SUV/Crossover sales reached 56,634 units, a 25.5% increase year‑on‑year, with the segment accounting for nearly 60% of all passenger‑car sales.
Ford Everest led the segment, delivering 6,101 units – an 18.8% rise – and capturing about 59% of the D‑size SUV market, outpacing rivals such as Mazda CX‑8, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner. Mitsubishi’s Destinator, a C‑size SUV with a 7‑seat layout, secured the second‑largest share with 5,189 units sold since its launch in December 2025. The Geely Okavango, introduced in early June 2024, offers a D‑size SUV‑MPV blend priced between 739 million and 799 million VND, targeting families seeking spacious, fuel‑efficient vehicles.
Consumer demand for larger, versatile vehicles continues to drive this growth, with manufacturers emphasizing safety, technology and flexible interior configurations to meet the needs of larger Vietnamese families and long‑distance travel.
