Vietnam's agriculture, forestry and fisheries exports rise 6% to $36 billion in first half of 2026
Vietnam's total export value for agriculture, forestry and fisheries reached about US$35.9 billion in the first six months of 2026, a 6% increase over the same period a year earlier. The sector posted a trade surplus of roughly US$9.2 billion, though the surplus narrowed compared with 2025.
Exports of seafood grew 11.4% to US$5.7 billion, driven by strong demand from China, which accounted for 25% of the market share and recorded a 41.7% year‑on‑year increase. Vegetables and fruits rose 17.7%, while livestock products jumped 34.6%. By contrast, coffee, rubber and rice saw price pressure; coffee volume rose 9.7% but its value fell 14.4% as average export price dropped 22%.
Asia remained the largest destination, representing 44.4% of total sales, with China (21.3% share), the United States (19%) and Japan (6.8%) as top buyers. Exports to the Americas slipped 2.3% and to Africa fell 17.3%.
Overall, the data show continued growth in Vietnam's primary‑product sector, offset by mixed performance across individual commodities.
