Vietnam's AI tech firms move to deep integration as companies grapple with soaring AI costs

A new wave of Vietnamese technology companies is shifting from traditional low‑cost outsourcing to AI‑centric services. Firms such as Techvify are building AI into core products, meeting the demands of global customers in the United States, Europe, South Korea and Japan, and opening offices in Singapore, Tokyo and Seoul. Industry leaders say the model emphasizes measurable results, robust governance, security standards and international ambition, positioning Vietnam to compete with providers in India, Eastern Europe and East Asia.

At the same time, enterprises are confronting sharply higher AI expenses. Workato, a US‑based automation software maker with over 1,300 staff, saw its AI bill from Anthropic jump 700 % in a single day after the provider switched to token‑based pricing. The company’s CIO described the increase as a reminder that earlier AI subsidies masked true costs. Similar cost‑control moves are reported at Uber, Amazon, Walmart and Meta, prompting a reassessment of AI’s financial value versus its productivity gains.
