Vietnam’s computer and electronics exports jump 55% to the U.S. in early 2026
Vietnam’s exports of computers, electronic devices and components have accelerated sharply in the first five months of 2026. Exports to the United States reached about $22.5 billion, up roughly 55 percent year‑on‑year and accounting for around 40 percent of total sector sales. Exports to the European Union rose to near $5 billion, a 43 percent increase, driven by strong demand in Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
China remained the second‑largest market with exports of about $8.8 billion, up 33 percent, while ASEAN partners collectively grew by 77 percent to over $3 billion, led by Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. Other notable gains included Mexico (+180 %), the United Kingdom (+92 %), Australia (+79 %), Turkey (+81 %), Colombia (+144 %) and Peru (+265 %). The surge reflects global recovery in data‑center, AI and digital‑transformation spending, as well as Vietnam’s expanding role in international supply chains and its network of free‑trade agreements.
