Vietnam's Dong Nai and Mexico's Nuevo Laredo launch free digital literacy and AI training programs

In Dong Nai Province, Vietnam, local authorities are expanding the Digital Literacy Movement, deploying teams of volunteers and public‑service staff to teach residents how to use smartphones, access online government services and conduct cash‑less transactions. Nguyen Thai Son, subdirector of the Binh Phuoc Public Service Center, described a neighborhood‑based Technical Response Team that provides in‑home assistance, especially for seniors and those unfamiliar with digital tools.

Meanwhile, the municipal government of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, is restarting a series of free artificial‑intelligence workshops at the Infoteca “Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz”. Starting 4 August, the two‑hour sessions, limited to 20 participants, will introduce AI concepts and practical use of platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. The program is coordinated by the city’s Library Coordination and the Directorate of Socio‑economic and Technological Innovation, led by Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal.
