Vietnam's Dung Quat refinery adds 65,000 m³ crude oil tank, boosting storage by 12.5%

On 4 August 2026 the Dung Quat oil‑refining complex in Quảng Ngãi province inaugurated a new 65,000 m³ crude‑oil storage tank. The addition raises the plant’s total crude‑oil holding capacity from roughly 520,000 m³ to 585,000 m³, a 12.5 % increase, giving the refinery about 25 days of operating reserve and the ability to receive a Suezmax tanker.

The project, approved by the board of PetroVietnam Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) in July 2024, was built by the PTSC‑Quảng Ngãi‑BCA Thăng Long consortium. Construction was completed more than 30 days ahead of schedule while the refinery continued continuous production. Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Quảng Ngãi provincial government and BSR attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the upgrade’s role in strengthening Vietnam’s energy security and flexibility in the face of volatile global oil markets.
