Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn, received outgoing French Ambassador Olivier Brochet in Hanoi as he concludes his three-year term.

Leaders praised Brochet’s contributions to deepening the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was upgraded in October 2024. Discussions highlighted successful cooperation in political-diplomatic, economic, trade, and investment sectors. Specific interest was noted in emerging projects involving aerospace, energy, transport, and railways, alongside traditional cooperation in culture, health, and education.

To further strengthen ties, the National Assembly of Vietnam announced the establishment of the Vietnam-France Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group. Both sides emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation and the implementation of the 2026-2028 action plan. President Tô Lâm also encouraged France to promote the early ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) by EU member states to facilitate business between the two nations.
