Vietnam's New E‑Commerce Law Takes Effect July 1, 2025
Effective 1 July 2025, Vietnam’s revised E‑Commerce Law introduces extensive obligations for online sellers and digital marketplaces. All individuals, households, enterprises and organisations selling on e‑commerce platforms must complete identity verification, provide full business and product information, and conduct transactions through accounts owned by the seller. Platforms are required to proactively monitor listings, remove illegal or unsafe products, disclose operating conditions, and cooperate with authorities on complaints and investigations.
Major platforms have begun compliance procedures. TikTok Shop now mandates identity documents, business registration and address proof before a shop can be listed. Shopee requires a five‑step verification including QR code scanning, biometric checks, tax registration and payment‑account linkage. Lazada reports ongoing verification and monitoring actions. The law also tightens rules for livestream sales, demanding at least 12 months of content storage and real‑time violation handling.
