Vietnam's Phu Tho Province urged to shift to high‑tech industrial hub
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung addressed the Standing Board of the Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee on 14 July, calling for a transformation of the province’s growth model. He urged Phu Thọ to prioritize high‑value‑added and high‑tech investment, abandoning labour‑intensive and environmentally harmful projects, with the aim of becoming a national industrial powerhouse and achieving at least 11 % growth in 2026.
The province reported a 10.18 % year‑on‑year rise in GRDP in the first half of 2026, alongside strong gains in industrial output, budget revenue, foreign direct investment and public‑investment disbursement. The PM highlighted weaknesses such as a low services share, slow restructuring, limited large‑scale strategic investors, infrastructure bottlenecks, land‑clearance delays, skilled‑labour shortages and regional living‑standard gaps. He instructed Phu Thọ to accelerate public‑fund disbursement to 100 % by year‑end, complete its 2026‑2030 medium‑term investment plan, and fast‑track transport infrastructure and industrial‑park development.
