Vietnam's PNJ shares rise third day, foreign investors buy heavily

PNJ, a leading Vietnamese jewellery and gemstone company, saw its share price hit the upper trading limit for the third consecutive session on 5 August, reaching VND 37,900 per share and pushing the company's market capitalisation close to VND 19.4 trillion. Foreign investors were a key driver, buying a net VND 110 billion of shares that day and accumulating roughly VND 569 billion over seven sessions.

In its Q2 2026 results, PNJ reported revenue of VND 8.484 trillion, up 11.9% year‑on‑year, but posted a net loss of VND 283 billion, driven by a large provision related to diamond‑buy‑back activities. The company said the provision was a precautionary measure and does not reflect a decline in core business performance. Despite the loss, the stock’s recovery and strong foreign buying indicate improving investor sentiment toward the firm.

The rebound follows a period of sharp price declines earlier in the year, and the continued foreign inflow suggests confidence in PNJ’s longer‑term prospects despite the short‑term earnings hit.
