Quảng Trị exam cheating scandal leads to indictment of two teachers

Social‑media posts in early July 2026 alleged that exam officials at Lê Trực High School in Tuyên Hóa, Quảng Trị province had guided candidates during the national high‑school graduation exam. The Quảng Trị provincial police opened an investigation and on 17 July charged two teachers – mathematics department head Trần Đức Lực (born 1979) and Vietnamese literature department head Đoàn Thị Thanh Bình (born 1978) – with “abuse of authority while performing official duties”. The investigation also identified nine examinees directly involved in the cheating. The Ministry of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) and provincial officials met on 18 July, agreeing to enforce strict legal action, clarify responsibilities and conduct a province‑wide audit of exam procedures. The Ministry ordered all local education departments to re‑check exam organization and to report any irregularities promptly. The case remains under investigation, with further disciplinary measures expected.
