Vietnam's Quang Ninh Plans $18 Billion Ecological Park in Highway Mangrove Forest

A vast natural mangrove forest stretches along the Hai Phong‑Quang Ninh highway in Quang Ninh Province, covering several hundred hectares near Tuần Châu and Hà An. The forest, described as a "green lung," hosts diverse flora such as su, mang, and vãng, and provides habitat for migratory birds, including nesting egrets.

A Vietnamese company has proposed converting the mangrove area into an urban ecological park of 660‑800 ha, with an estimated investment of about 18 billion USD. The project aims to protect the ecosystem, mitigate climate change, prevent coastal erosion, and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities while boosting eco‑tourism in the Ha Long Bay region.
