Vietnam's TPBank launches VietQRGlobal cross‑border QR payment network
TPBank has introduced VietQRGlobal, a QR‑code payment service that lets international visitors use familiar banking apps or e‑wallets from China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos to pay at Vietnamese merchants. The system works with a single QR code, requires no additional hardware for merchants and charges a 0.33 % processing fee.
In parallel, Vietnam’s National Payment Corporation (NAPAS), together with VietinBank and Singapore‑based Liquid Group, launched a cross‑border QR payment service linking Singapore and Vietnam. Singapore users can scan VietQRGlobal codes at Vietnamese merchants, with real‑time conversion between Singapore dollars and Vietnamese dong and an initial reach of about three million users. The partners plan to enable reverse payments from Vietnam to Singapore later in 2026, completing a two‑way payment ecosystem and supporting growing tourism between the two countries.
