Vietnam's Vehicle Market Surges in 2026, Kia Leads Car Sales and Motorcycles See Record Growth

Kia Vietnam sold more than 15,700 internal‑combustion cars in the first half of 2026, a rise of about 28% year‑on‑year, keeping the brand in the top‑five best‑selling ICE manufacturers. The growth was driven mainly by the Sonet and Seltos models, which together accounted for roughly 54% of Kia's total sales, while the new Carnival hybrid continued to dominate the large family‑car segment.

In the same period, Vietnam's two‑wheel market added over 1.8 million new motorcycles, a 14.6% increase from the previous year, making it the fastest‑growing market in Southeast Asia. Total regional motorcycle sales reached more than 7.8 million units, up 5.2% YoY. The surge was powered by a strong shift toward electric motorcycles, supported by government incentives and new models from manufacturers such as VinFast, Yadea and DatBike. Traditional gasoline bikes still held a majority share, led by Honda and Yamaha, but the electric segment showed the strongest growth momentum.
