Vietnam's Verigoods System to Enforce Product Traceability from July 2026

The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Vietnam will make traceability mandatory for high‑risk products using the VeriGoods platform. Starting 1 July 2026, merchants must register accounts, obtain product identifiers and verify information on the system. Full traceability compliance is required before any covered goods can be placed on the market from 1 January 2027. The scheme applies to agricultural products and other high‑risk items, with voluntary participation encouraged for other categories. Consumers will be able to query basic product details for free, and can report inaccurate information to authorities. By May 2026 the VeriGoods system had already validated over one million product codes.

The policy also outlines technical requirements for firms using internal traceability systems, demanding secure connectivity with the ministry’s platform. New businesses starting after 1 January 2027 must implement traceability from the outset.
